Marc Juris is a uniquely talented creative executive with a proven track record of creating and developing brands and compelling original content for television and digital platforms across numerous networks.
As president and general manager of WE tv, Juris oversees all aspects of the network’s creative and business functions, including original program development and production, marketing and digital, advertising and promotional efforts, business affairs, and long and short-term planning and strategy.
Juris joined WE tv in 2013, and since then has increased the network’s viewership, its slate of original unscripted programming and led a network rebrand. WE tv’s unscripted shows are some of the most buzzed about in pop culture, including the popular franchises Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars and Growing Up Hip Hop, the long-running signature series Braxton Family Values, and the breakout hit series Love After Lockup, spinoff Life After Lockup and the cult favorite phenomenon Bridezillas. The network has also recently expanded into the documentary space with Power, Influence and Hip-Hop, which traces the rise of Jermaine Dupri and his record label So So Def and the upcoming Untold Stories of Hip Hop, hosted by radio personality Angie Martinez and featuring never-before-told stories from Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, Ice Cube, Nelly, A$AP Rocky, DJ Khaled, Wyclef Jean, Ja Rule, Fat Joe and more.
Today, WE tv continues to deliver high-quality unscripted programming with heavy social engagement, featuring diverse characters and voices that resonate with viewers. WE tv is the #1 cable network for African-American women on Thursday nights and is a destination on Friday nights for compelling and addicting reality TV.
Prior to joining WE tv, Juris engineered the radical reinvention of CourtTV to truTV, creating a top-ten cable network in less than four years. Under his leadership, truTV experienced unprecedented momentum. Propelled by over 300 hours of original programming every year, with 30 unique series like Hardcore Pawn, Impractical Jokers, Storage Hunters, Operation Repo, Full Throttle Saloon and South Beach Tow, truTV finished 2012 with its best-ever primetime deliveries of key demos.
Before he joined truTV, Juris was president of FUSE Network, where he led the rapid growth and rebranding of the former MuchMusicUSA. He was among the first to identify and leverage the nascent power of social media to successfully launch the world’s first viewer-driven music network. During his tenure, FUSE emerged as a credible national alternative to music goliath MTV. Before joining FUSE, Juris was senior vice president of original programming and later general manager of AMC, where he developed and implemented the network’s strategic re-branding, along with its seamless transition from an ad-free to ad-supported network.
Also at Rainbow Networks (the predecessor company to AMC Networks), Juris served as senior vice president of regional programming for Metro Channels, where he developed, positioned, launched and managed three regional, live television networks branded MetroTV. He also held positions at King World, CBS Television Network and CBS Cable.
With a keen awareness of marketer and consumer needs, Juris is a familiar and respected name in the affiliate and advertiser communities. A tireless collaborator and team builder, he works closely with business development, advertising and affiliate sales to maximize revenue and drive growth.
A six-time EMMY award winner, Juris is a graduate of Syracuse University. He is an adjunct professor at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and a voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television (BAFTA).
