Biography
Alex Barinka is Managing Director, Corporate Strategy at Upland Workshop. She specializes in developing business strategies to drive impactful communications that materially impact business value for clients across media, sports, consumer and technology.
Before joining Upland, Alex was a reporter for Bloomberg and Businessweek Magazine, where she covered the social media industry, including TikTok’s societal impact and political battles in DC, Meta’s shift in strategy, and the rise of AI and deepfakes. She was a fixture across Bloomberg TV and radio, from guest anchoring the Bloomberg Tech show to live interviews and hits from Capitol Hill and the Sun Valley conference.
Previously, Alex served as Director, Engagement and Partnerships at Stitch Fix, overseeing new marketing teams responsible for celebrity and influencer activations. Prior to that, she was a founding executive team member and head of external affairs at Lightspeed-backed e-commerce startup, Verishop, spending three years driving corporate narrative, PR and affiliate media strategies, and guiding the organization as part of the leadership team. She also hosted and executive produced an Apple top-50 fashion and beauty podcast featuring leading industry founders and creatives.
Alex spent the first leg of her journalism career on Bloomberg’s Deals Team, breaking news and reporting enterprise stories on technology M&A and U.S. IPOs, after roles covering technology and U.S. equities
